How to be brave

Oil on canvas 40 x 50 cm

The sablay is worn at graduation ceremonies or other formal university events. I painted this for Rinna just in time for our 25th anniversary as medical doctors. Our graduating class of 1995 had planned a super-mega-reunion in Manila but everything was converted to an online extravaganza, which turned out to be fun, too.

Rinna has stage four cancer. She will be getting chemotherapy for life. Because time is limited, there is no time to be sad.

This painting was started on 7 December and finished on 18 December 2020.

Received in Texas, 29 March 2021
